I am so impressed with both books!! They are truly a must read for anyone wanting to make a living with an online business. I have had a couple of conversations with Mr. Fox by telephone and he is a great person to talk with about your ideas. He truly cares about everyone’s success. He is a great motivator and more than willing to help you with your business needs and/or ideas. I look forward to future conversations with him.

Scott’s direct, strategy based approach will deliver you business results and save you both time and money. e-Riches 2.0 is hands down the best book on digital marketing that I have read. Scott holds you hand throughout the process and delivers a winning formula for success.

What I most like about Scott and E-Riches is his approach. There are two key principles here: he explains concepts specifically and in plain English and two, he is a businessman and not just an online marketer. He has actually used the strategies that he reveals in detail to build his own online businesses with enormous success. So, again, credibility. Unlike most marketing authors, he has actually walked the walk.

E-Riches is an extraordinary book, full of key insights and specific “how to” recommendations to actually promote your business online and achieve measurable results in a short time period.

The chapters on E-Mail Publishing strategies are worth the investment in the book alone. I have personally used them with my own online businesses and can tell you from personal experience they work.

I am a professional SEO (Internet Marketing) Consultant myself and have a great deal of experience in the field. I only wish I could communicate what can often be complex topics with such clarity.

The latest rage, of course, is Social Media Marketing. For many of my clients, that’s the first thing out of their mouth when we sit down to talk. Most people really don’t understand what social media is, let alone how to use it in marketing their business. You will after you read this book.

E-Riches takes you through a high level view of how social media pertains to your business all the way through getting the most out of using MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn and others. You will even learn how to build your own Social Network Customer Community.

E-Riches is structured in a practical, easy to follow layout with each section detailing an important set of related strategies.

Part One: Learn how marketing has changed and the new rules are paramount to your success in business today.

Part Two: Email Strategies

Part Three: Social Media Marketing Success Strategies (LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace)

Part Four: Blogging for success, including success tips for using Twitter

Part Five: Getting the most out of online public relations

Part Six: Profiting from online broadcasting- EXCELLENT discussion of how to easily and affordably use video and podcasts to drive more traffic to your website

Part Seven: A quick discussion of pay per click marketing. Not much time is spent on this topic as E-Riches focuses much more on affordable and effective marketing strategies, not paid advertising. For great PPC training, I recommend anything by Perry Marshall.

Part Eight: This last part ties it all together and teaches you how to measure your success.

Looking at the above topics that are covered in plain English it is impossible to not find several specific marketing strategies that will propel you sales online, build your online credibility and increase traffic to your website exponentially.

If I sound enthusiastic about this book it’s because I am. I make my living in the fascinating world of online marketing. I am not a theorist, if the strategies I implement for myself and my client don’t work, I’m out of business.

I have personally used the specific marketing tactics E-Riches covers with very impressive results.

I hope you enjoy this book, you will quickly learn that you can market yourself and your business online without breaking the bank. And, you’ll have a lot of fun doing it!

I worked with Joel on an AdSense product back in 2006 and my experience is that he’s always been a hands-on, regular guy; easy-going and nice to work with.

Watching Joel over the years, I see that he has a knack for knowing what marketing will work, what the average guy likes and then he acts on that instinct in a big way. He’s moved into many arenas in the world of marketing online and offline, and knows what he’s talking about from experience. As you’ll read in the book, Joel’s been successful online since 1995 and not a one-hit wonder at all.

This book is written and formatted to be very easy-to-read, specifically for someone not really experienced in marketing online. It reads fast and covers alot of ground. It’s not a techie book and all terms and concepts are explained clearly.

I recommend KaChing for someone who is a newbie or beginner in online marketing and who wants to know different ways to create a business online that works (from someone who’s done it for real).

If your expecting a detailed, step-by-step program or model on starting a website and making it profitable, then this isn’t the right book for you. (There’s hundreds of those products and courses online) Or if you expect to start online and immediately make thousands, it’s not that kind of book–despite the title.

I’ve worked as an SEO consultant and online marketer since 2001, and done many of the same things that Joel’s done online. For an experienced Internet marketer, this book may have a few gold nuggets if you need some fresh ideas on a new direction. But most of the book will be info you already know.

Some salty, old marketers may complain that KaChing includes a number of Joel’s own sites and products as examples, but I think he used them appropriately when relevant, and it’s not the focus. There’s lots of examples of sites throughout, and case studies in Chapter 8.

For me, I saw good information and resources on memberships sites (chapter 6)I hadn’t seen like Subhub(cool!) and another I pleasantly surprised to see was Wild Apricot. I am acquainted with Rebecca Leaman from Wild Apricot and they do great things with non-profits online(BTW, I hear they have new templates and designs available now since the mention in Joel’s book). The coaching programs(chapter 7)is informative and a good info jump-start for that segment online.

Joel Comm, is an expert at developing online success and he pours out a wealth of information on each page of this book. His information will make you money if you put it to practice. As an Internet entrepreneur and author, I feel confident in recommending his book to anyone that wants to make money online.

A few years ago I bought an eBook on a forum from Joel that would later become the best selling book The AdSense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense. I read it and implemented his suggestions and tips not expecting the great results that I got. My AdSense income increased significantly from his suggestions. After awhile I wondered what’s next? I had heard that AdSense is the tip of the iceberg in revenue generation for websites. This book answers what’s next and I’m expecting the same results from implementing the suggestions in this book!

Before I say more specifically what I like about the book, I just want to acknowledge the timing of this book…It is Perfect. Never before in our lifetime has there been a stronger need for giving people a solid way to make some extra cash. And, for some people who are more proactive than others, a whole lot of extra cash. I say that because I truly believe this book will empower the “action taker” to set aside the worries over money and enjoy the good things life has to offer.

In my opinion, this book is geared down to what we call the “Newbie Level.” However, I consider that a good thing for several reasons. First, because I would rather have a book that is thorough and gives me the option of skipping sections, rather than being confused and wishing for more. SEcond, benefit is that some of us are a little thick headed and need to be told the same thing 2, 3, 4, 5 times or more before we will believe it and take action. (It’s sort of a guy thing, like not wanting to ask for directions when we’re driving.) Additionally, some of us learned somethings wrong (from green teachers) and we need to be set straight. Lastly, the Internet changes very fast, so it is always helpful to get the most up-to-date lessons, tips, and strategies.

If you’re more than a Newbie, this book is for you too, because it has the strategy for what I call a bestselling business. You want to become a celebrity author, speaker, or coach, then just follow the strategy that Joel has laid out…the basics are all there. Joel is very shy on putting numbers in the book (the FTC has really cracked down on that recently), but I know that by applying the whole enchilada, you are looking at a 6 to 7 figure income.

KaChing gets 5 stars because it is exactly what we need and it accomplishes its task of showing anyone with an open mind how to create a viable Internet business.

A WORD OF CAUTION about a bigger picture issue.

Please allow me to share with you about an important new challenge to Internet businesses (which I believe is worth spending time preparing for)… and that is proactively managing your Online Reputation. Although Joel Comm covers the area of branding well in KaChing, I would highly recommend getting Wild West 2.0: How to Protect and Restore Your Reputation on the Untamed Social Frontier.

Take it from a person with experience in this, even though you might have great products and excellent customer service, you will still have customer problems and issues. People are people (but I think at least one in every thousand is wired backwards). So, it is inevitable that you will get some bad product reviews, or even worse, revengeful customers who will try to ruin your online reputation. If you don’t pay attention to this, you might find yourself with an Internet business some day that has a broken KaChing bell.

Wild West 2.0 tells you exactly where to look for online reputation problems and then how to repair them. Proactive Reputation Management should not be delegated to your webmaster. From my experience it is now a critical management and marketing issue that concerns everyone online.

Some of the book was great, but there were also a lot of confusing and unorganized parts. In short, the book was all over the place.

Some of the sections were very basic and others more advanced. I’m not sure if it’s for a beginner or somebody that is advanced. It doesn’t really focus on one group. You’ll get something out of it I’m sure, but if you’re like me, only about half of it will apply to you. Because of this, I’m rating it right down the middle.

A few days before this book, I read Laptop Lifestyle – How to Quit Your Job and Make a Good Living on the Internet (Volume 1 – Quick Start Guide to Making Money Online) and was glad to have done that, since I feel it helped me to “read between the lines” with the information in this book. There were times when reading this one that I was going right along with the author, understanding what he was saying, but then he’d lose me by jumping to something else without finishing the thought. At the end, I was left with a bunch of odds and ends of a big picture but no real plan of action for making money now, with the exception of Adsense ads on a blog I have. If all the needed information to make a good living online was in this book, it wasn’t organized well. He talks about blogging a lot, so perhaps this book was developed from random blog articles?

Just to give you an example of what I’m talking about, the first part of the book is a very basic section he talks about setting up a blog with Blogger. Then he talks about adding ads to make money from it. I was with him at this point and that’s what I’ve done so far. He gives a list of banner ad companies and talks about Google Adsense and that was helpful to me. If you are not online at all, this is a good thing to read to make that happen although some of the finer details and technical terms are not explained well. If you’ve been doing this a long time, maybe you’ll do better than me at figuring out how it all fits together, but if you’ve been doing it a long time, you’re probably beyond a free blog on Blogger, too. I just started and am already seeing the limitations.

I enjoyed the part where he talks about “7 Types of Content” to put on blogs. For example, posts that review things, posts that interview people, “Top 10″ lists, and Q&A posts. This gave me some good ideas and was the highlight of the book for me.

Then he starts to get more advanced and talks about buying articles to post on your blog, which I think is a good idea, because I’m busy. My hope of saving some time didn’t last long though because when I went to the site he recommended, it appeared to be brand new, with only a few articles to purchase.

This is the kind of “back and forth” you get with this book. One minute you’re following along and completely with him, then there is a detour that kind of derails the plan or at the very least confuses it. One minute he’s doing something for beginners, like helping you get a free blog up, and then he spends an entire section talking about legal issues of posting testimonials.

Then he talks about passive revenue with membership sites. Then speaking. Then coaching programs. Then branding strategies. Then how to deal with PR and media people.

There is a lot of information here, but very little detailed information. If you are looking for a book that is going to guide you step-by-step to a business that makes money online, this is not it.

What this book does well is give you little ideas you can use in an existing business. The only problem there is that he jumps around to so many areas, he doesn’t give the finer points of anything. I was hoping for more specifics.
